A milestone addition to the estate, reinforcing Adare Manor as a destination for world-class art and culture

ADARE, Ireland, Sept. 16, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Adare Manor, the award-winning five-star castle resort, today unveils Magnus Éirí, a 12-meter-high monumental sculpture of oak, bronze and gold leaf, conceived by internationally acclaimed Irish artist and designer Joseph Walsh. Standing in the formal gardens, the four-ton masterwork represents the tallest sculpture crafted by Joseph Walsh Studio to date.

Commissioned in 2021 after an eight-year research journey and five years of meticulous design and fabrication, Magnus Éirí required more than 5,000 hours of craftsmanship from 25 artisans across Ireland, Italy, and Europe.

“Adare Manor is a place where nature, human aspiration, and centuries of history converge,” said Joseph Walsh, internationally acclaimed Irish artist and designer. “The property inspired a monumental form that reflects the flowing energy of the River Maigue and the timeless spirit of the estate. It is a privilege to contribute a piece that invites visitors to pause, look up, and feel connected to both the landscape and its heritage.”

Rather than imposing a predetermined shape, he works free-form, allowing the natural elasticity of the wood to help shape the final piece. The bronze, marked with the imprint of his thumb, represents human intervention and aspiration, while its continuous flow into the oak expresses the symbiotic relationship between humanity and nature.

The addition of this landmark sculpture underscores Adare Manor’s commitment to integrating exceptional art and culture into the guest experience. Set against the backdrop of the estate’s historic architecture and manicured grounds, Magnus Éirí stands as a defining expression of the resort’s dedication to creating moments of wonder and reflection. This collaboration reinforces Adare Manor’s position as a steward of Irish heritage and a patron of meaningful contemporary craftsmanship.

ÉIRÍ, meaning rising in Irish, refers to the movement of the nearby River Maigue and the ascending and descending shape of the sculpture. It echoes the relationship between humanity and nature, as seen in the landscape around the sculpture in Adare – the river meandering through the land, with man-made castles and monasteries scattered along its banks, charting intertwined histories over the centuries.

The addition of Magnus Éirí enhances Adare Manor’s historic 840-acre estate, reinforcing the property’s dedication to preserving its rich heritage while offering guests world-class contemporary culture. As the property prepares to welcome global visitors for the centenary Ryder Cup in 2027, this permanent installation firmly establishes the formal gardens as a place of inspiration, reflection, and timeless beauty at the heart of County Limerick.
