Truepic authenticated images for more than 100,000 claims in the first four months, helping accelerate legitimate claims and flag suspicious submissions in real time
Truepic and OtterBox partner to accelerate warranty claims with authentication in under a minute
SAN DIEGO, Aug. 27, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Truepic, the leader in image and video authentication, today announced that OtterBox, the leading maker of protective cases and mobile accessories, has adopted Truepic Vision to authenticate photos and videos submitted for warranty and protection plan claims. In less than four months, the Truepic platform has been used to authenticate images for more than 100,000 OtterBox warranty claims.
When customers begin a claim, they receive access to a Truepic-powered camera experience on their smartphone. On average, they open the camera and submit the required images of their damaged product in under 60 seconds. Truepic Vision uses over 50 image and data checks to ensure the authenticity of images, videos, and their associated data. This information is turned into structured insights, cryptographically sealed, and delivered to OtterBox’s workflow for claims processing.
Truepic’s authenticity checks and risk intelligence network also surface image manipulation, suspicious activity, and fraud patterns across submissions in real time. OtterBox can then advance legitimate claims without waiting for manual photo review.
The partnership comes as policy abuse has become merchants’ most-cited fraud risk. According to MRC’s 2026 Global eCommerce and Fraud Report, 41% of merchants identified policy abuse as a challenge, 61% reported an increase over the prior year, and 20% experienced increases of 25% or more. Truepic helps retailers address this risk after purchase without adding friction at checkout.
“At OtterBox, we pride ourselves on standing behind our products and providing a best-in-class customer service experience. Truepic’s technology helps us streamline claim verification and maintain the integrity of our warranty program, allowing us to focus on serving our customers as quickly and efficiently as possible,” said Trey Northup, CEO, OtterBox.
“We are thrilled to be working with OtterBox to innovate the warranty and return process for retailers as AI-fueled fraud increases,” said Craig Stack, President, Truepic. “We are proud that our technology can help OtterBox accelerate service to legitimate customers while protecting its claims process from fraud. We see this as the future of warranty, recall, and retail returns.”
The partnership demonstrates how authenticity at the source can make digital claims faster and more trustworthy, even as manipulated and AI-generated media becomes easier to create.
