Toronto will close out 2024 with a stretch of mild, wet, and windy weather.
Environment Canada says Toronto could see showers turn to flurries this afternoon.
The city is expected to see above seasonal temperatures again today, with the mercury rising to a high of 4 C.
Mixed precipitation is expected on New Year’s Eve, with the national weather agency calling for snow and rain and a high of 4 C.
The wet conditions and melting snow previously prompted the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority to issue a watershed conditions statement.
“Forecasted precipitation combined with warmer temperatures, frozen ground conditions and melting snow and ice will result in increased runoff into rivers systems and water levels may change very rapidly,” the statement read.
“Localized ponding is also possible in low-lying areas or areas with poor drainage. The combination of slippery and unstable banks, and rising water levels could create hazardous conditions near rivers or other water bodies. All shorelines, rivers and streams within the GTA should be considered dangerous.”
Flurries are in the forecast for the remainder of the week as daytime highs hover around the freezing mark.
