Ted Trabue Appointed as Interim Chairman of the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia

Interim Chairman Ted Trabue

Washington, D.C., Aug. 21, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia (Commission) announced that Mayor Muriel Bowser has appointed Commissioner Ted Trabue as the Interim Chairman of the Commission, effective August 18, 2026. He succeeds former Chairman Emile C. Thompson, who resigned effective August 14, 2026.

Trabue has served as a Commissioner since December 20, 2022, and brings deep knowledge of the Commission’s operations, the District’s utility landscape, and the regulatory challenges facing District ratepayers. The appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the Commission, which regulates the electric, natural gas, and telecommunications utilities serving the District.

“First, I want to acknowledge former Chairman Emile Thompson, who has devoted his career to public service. I want to thank him for his dedication to the District and to this Commission,” said Commissioner Trabue. “I am honored to serve as Interim Chairman. This Commission does work that touches every household and every business in the District. I understand how we work and where we need to change. My commitment is to bring every voice to the table. I will preserve the independence that protects consumers while opening a new chapter of transparency and engagement.”

Trabue previously served as the Managing Director for the D.C. Sustainable Energy Utility and chaired the D.C. Economic Partnership and the D.C. State Board of Education. He is a fourth-generation Washingtonian educated by the District of Columbia Public Schools, like his mother and grandmother. He graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in Economics and holds a law degree from Howard University School of Law.
