100 two-person teams secure positions for Fort Chaffee event in historic registration rush

San Antonio – Texas, Sept. 03, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The 2027 Vortex & Grunt Style Mammoth Sniper Challenge II has set a new organizational record, selling out all 100 available team positions for the April 23-25, 2027 event at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, in less than ten minutes. One team slot is always reserved for the defending champions (Sikes & Condron) and 9 teams will compete representing top tier industry partners including Vortex Optics, TacticalGear.com, Kelbly’s Rifles, Horizon Firearms, Hodgden/RCBS and more.
Registration opened at 5:00 p.m. ET. The first completed registration was recorded at 5:01:29 p.m. By 5:09:43 p.m., all 100 paid team positions were gone.
The pace was unprecedented in Mammoth history.
Within four minutes, 25 teams had secured their positions. Fifty teams were registered in five minutes and 20 seconds. The field reached 75 teams at the seven-minute mark. Less than ten minutes after registration opened, Mammoth II was sold out.

The result establishes a new sellout record for an organization that has routinely filled its events to capacity and may represent one of the fastest documented sellouts for a major precision rifle shooting competition in the United States.
“Mammoth has sold out for years, but this is different,” said Tim Jensen, President of G3 Dynamics. “One hundred teams didn’t sign up for a weekend at the range. They fought for the opportunity to suffer for 72 hours, carry everything they need on their backs, move more than 35 miles and shoot under conditions designed to expose every weakness they have. Selling that out in nine minutes tells you something about what Mammoth has become.”
Mammoth’s rise has been years in the making as it heads into it’s ninth season as a Grunt Style owned event.
What began as a relatively small, endurance shooting competition has developed into one of the most recognized tests in the precision rifle community. Mammoth combines long-range marksmanship with pistol shooting, physical endurance, fieldcraft, equipment management and decision-making under fatigue. Two-person teams carry their ammunition, food, shelter and all gear throughout the event with no resupply.
The result is deliberately unforgiving.
Mammoth’s historical finish rate is approximately 62 percent. Simply securing a position on the starting line does not guarantee a competitor will still be standing when the event ends.
That reputation has become part of the draw.
“This isn’t growth because we made Mammoth easier or more accessible,” Jensen said. “We did the opposite. We’ve protected what makes it Mammoth. There are plenty of places where you can pay an entry fee and shoot a match. Mammoth is where you come to find out whether you can finish one.”
The registration numbers demonstrate just how intense demand has become:

The record follows eight years of sold-out Mammoth competitions and continued expansion. The previous record sellout was 42 minutes for this event in 2026.
For the organization, however, the significance goes beyond registration numbers and speed.
“There’s a temptation when something grows to make more of it, make it easier to get into and capture every dollar of demand,” Jensen said. “That’s not our philosophy. Scarcity is part of Mammoth because the experience matters more than maximizing the number of entries. The standard stays the standard.”
Mammoth Sniper Challenge II will take place April 23–25, 2027, at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas.
For the 200 competitors who secured a position, the race to register is over.
The race to be ready has just begun.
