KoreInside welcomes the Securities and Exchange Commission’s upcoming open meeting on Wednesday, September 30, where commissioners will consider issuing notices concerning whether additional certifications, designations, or credentials should qualify individuals for accredited investor status under Rule 501(a)(10) of Regulation D.
The discussion presents an opportunity to examine how demonstrated investment knowledge can be recognized while maintaining meaningful investor protections. The SEC’s existing framework permits individuals with certain Commission-designated professional credentials in good standing to qualify, alongside other paths to accredited investor status. The September 30 agenda concern possible notices and further consideration; it does not itself approve any additional credential.
