36-home affordable homeownership community honors President & CEO Erin Rank’s 28 years of leadership and marks a major milestone for Habitat LA

Long Beach, Aug. 28, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) will celebrate the dedication of Erin Grove, a 36-home affordable homeownership community and the largest development in the organization’s history, on August 29, 2026, at 1 p.m.
Named in honor of longtime President & CEO Erin Rank, Erin Grove marks a major milestone for Habitat LA and its decades-long commitment to Long Beach’s Washington neighborhood. Media are invited to join Habitat homeowners, community leaders, donors, volunteers, and partners for the dedication ceremony and a tour of the new community.
Erin Grove is a mixed-income development designed to expand access to homeownership while creating a vibrant neighborhood for families across a range of income levels. The community combines affordable Habitat LA homes with market-rate homes, increasing access to attainable homeownership and helping more families build long-term financial stability.
“Having this community bear my name is an incredible honor, but what makes it especially meaningful is that I was born just two blocks from this site and my parents bought their first home here in Long Beach,” said Rank. “To help 36 families begin their own homeownership journeys in the community where mine began is deeply personal. Erin Grove represents what homeowners, volunteers, donors, partners, and staff have made possible together.”
A Long Beach native, Rank first became involved with Habitat LA as a volunteer and later became the organization’s first employee, working from a donated church office in Long Beach. During her 28-year tenure, she helped grow Habitat LA into one of Southern California’s leading affordable homeownership organizations, expanding its impact through new home construction, home preservation, neighborhood revitalization, and strategic partnerships.
Erin Grove is Habitat LA’s largest development to date and includes the organization’s 2,000th home built, rehabilitated, or repaired, underscoring the scale of its impact across Los Angeles County.
Designed to support long-term affordability, the community features all-electric homes with solar power, energy-efficient appliances and systems, smart thermostats, water-conserving fixtures, and EV-ready garages. Water-saving landscaping, permeable walkways, and an underground stormwater capture system further contribute to the development’s sustainable design.
The project builds on Habitat LA’s longstanding investment in the Washington neighborhood, where the organization has worked for decades to increase homeownership opportunities and strengthen the surrounding community.
“Habitat doesn’t simply build houses. We build opportunity,” Rank said. “We help create stability for children, pathways to financial security, and communities where families can put down roots and plan for the future.”
At the center of the celebration are the families who will call Erin Grove home. The dedication marks the beginning of their homeownership journeys and the opportunity to build equity, stability, and a stronger future.

The naming of Erin Grove honors Rank’s 28 years of leadership while recognizing the collective efforts of Habitat LA homeowners, volunteers, staff, donors, and community partners.
“My parents’ first home in Long Beach gave our family a foundation and a sense of possibility,” Rank said. “That is what I hope for every family who moves into Erin Grove. The greatest honor isn’t seeing my name on the entrance sign. It’s knowing that families will build their own futures here for generations to come.”
