LOS ANGELES, Aug. 29, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — When grief strikes, it does not stop when one returns to everyday life. According to the New York Life Foundation’s 2025 State of Grief Report, 61% of employed adults have experienced the death of a loved one.
National Grief Awareness Day, observed every August 30, brings attention to the experience of loss and encourages openness around grief and bereavement.
In recognition of the observance, Dianetics volunteers in more than 50 countries are bringing conversations about grief and mental wellness to communities around the world. Teams are offering free stress tests in more than 250 cities, giving people an opportunity to learn more about the mind and explore Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health by L. Ron Hubbard.
Dianetics presents a framework for understanding the mind and explores how the emotional impact of a loss can linger long after the loss itself—continuing to affect a person’s thoughts and emotions. Through stress tests, volunteers introduce the public to concepts from Dianetics and provide an opportunity to discuss experiences that may still be affecting them.
For Ingrid Rogers, a California resident, applying the technique outlined in Dianetics became a turning point in her experience with grief.
“Grief left me in sadness and despair. After the loss I experienced, life felt dark, and I felt like there was no hope,” Rogers explained. “I used the technique laid out in Dianetics, and it changed that for me. The emotions I had been carrying were gone, which was nothing short of miraculous.”
Stories like Rogers’ illustrate why conversations around grief remain important beyond National Grief Awareness Day. Through its worldwide volunteer initiative, Dianetics provides opportunities for people to understand the mind and learn an approach for addressing unwanted reactions and emotions associated with past experiences.
Every weekend, 330 Dianetics centers in more than 50 countries offer Dianetics Seminars for those looking to learn more about Dianetics and its approach to understanding the mind.
