Sydney, Australia, Sept. 18, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) has ranked among the world’s top 20 universities for nursing and artificial intelligence in the 2026 ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.
UTS placed 10th globally for nursing and 18th globally for artificial intelligence, and ranked in the world’s top 100 across 16 subject areas. It was also ranked 1st in Australia for artificial intelligence, instrument science and technology, and robotic science and engineering.
Other strong results included electrical and electronic engineering at 27th globally, telecommunications engineering at 41st, water resources at 43rd, and computer science and engineering at 50th.
The ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects assesses approximately 2,000 universities worldwide across 57 subject areas, using measures including research quality and impact, academic output, faculty performance and international collaboration.
UTS Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Kylie Readman said the results reflected UTS’s continuing strength in research and teaching and its growing international reputation for research with real-world impact.
