Firmware version 1.5.0 is available on GitHub with developer setup instructions and a contribution process

HONG KONG, Sept. 10, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — UKey has released the source code for firmware version 1.5.0 of its UKey Core 26 hardware wallet. The release is part of the company’s work to open its hardware wallet firmware to public examination and developer contributions.

The source code is available in the firmware-core repository under bestyourwallet, UKey’s GitHub organization. Developers, security researchers, and users can examine the code under the repository’s applicable open-source licenses.

The repository includes core firmware, cryptographic and storage components, and a client. Its getting-started guide explains how to prepare a development environment, build an emulator, and run it locally. It also provides instructions for installing the client to communicate with UKey devices or the emulator.

UKey welcomes contributions through GitHub pull requests, including bug fixes, improvements, and new features. Developers can use the repository’s setup instructions to begin exploring the software and preparing contributions.

UKey is discussing arrangements for an independent security audit. Following the audit, the company plans to publish any resulting firmware changes together with support for reproducible builds.

Licensing varies by component. The repository lists GPLv3, LGPLv3, and MIT licenses, with individual terms applying to some files. Developers should consult the license documentation and relevant file headers when using, modifying, or redistributing the code.

Source code, setup instructions, and contribution information are available in the UKey Core Firmware repository.
