Two people have been charged with manslaughter and other offences in connection with the death of a seven-year-old two years ago in Hearst, Ont.
Rebecca Hebert, 25, and Jordan Taylor, 32, both of Hearst, have also been charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life in connection with the case.
Both remain in custody, Ontario Provincial Police in James Bay said in a news release Tuesday.
The charges stem from an incident on July 1, 2022, police said.
“The James Bay OPP was called to assist Cochrane District emergency medical services at an incident on Charbonneau Place in the Town of Hearst,” the release said.
“A seven-year-old had suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital, where they died as a result of their injuries on July 16, 2022.”
The pair were arrested Dec. 16 and were scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on Dec. 17.
