Despite having the lowest unemployment rate in Canada, just over 20 per cent of Saskatchewan’s children are in poverty.

With economic pressures only continuing to build, Food Banks Canada says social assistance in the province is not enough to live on.

Canadian Centre for Policy Alternative’s senior researcher in issues and policies says these numbers aren’t at all a surprise, due to the government not having an anti-poverty strategy.
