New free family caregiving app aims to bring fragmented care coordination, trusted support and caregiver wellbeing into one place — built from firsthand experience of caring for a loved one

KALIN FREE CAREGIVING PLATFORM

NEW FREE CAREGIVING PLATFORM LAUNCHES ACROSS 10 MARKETS

MAKATI CITY, Philippines, Sept. 02, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Caring for a loved one can turn everyday life into a second full-time job — coordinating family members, tracking medications and expenses, finding caregivers, managing appointments and trying to keep everyone informed across different cities and countries.

A new Philippine-built platform directly addresses that problem.

Kalin, a free family caregiving app and care companion, today opens its founding pilot to families and caregivers across the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. This marks the first public rollout of a free platform designed to help families organize the everyday realities of care in one connected experience.

Kalin is in its founding pilot phase and now available on Google Play, with iOS coming soon.

Rather than focusing on a particular diagnosis, Kalin is condition-agnostic. It is designed for the broader reality of family caregiving — whether someone is caring for an aging parent or grandparent, a child with a condition or disability, a partner recovering from injury or trauma, a sibling in recovery, or a loved one living with dementia, chronic illness or another condition.

A CARE PLATFORM BUILT AROUND THE FAMILY, NOT THE DIAGNOSIS

For many families, caregiving does not take place in one location or involve just one person. A daughter may be coordinating her parent’s care from Singapore. A sibling in Australia may need to stay informed. A family member in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom or United States may want to remain part of the care circle despite being thousands of miles away.

Kalin is designed for these realities by bringing family members, information, responsibilities and resources into one shared environment.

THE FIVE CORE EXPERIENCES

Care Console — A centralized hub for families and care circles to coordinate care, stay informed, manage responsibilities and access Care Concierge support.
Trusted Caregiver Network — A way to find and connect with professional caregivers through profiles featuring credentials, experience and verified reviews.
Personalized Care Setting — Tools to organize care around the person’s living situation, needs and support network.
Care & Financial Tracking — One place for care updates, medications, symptoms, notes and expenses.
Caregiver Companion & Wellbeing — AI-powered check-ins and companionship for caregivers, alongside access to mental health, fitness and wellness support.

MORE THAN AN APP: BUILDING A CARE ECOSYSTEM

Kalin is also cultivating an ecosystem around the practical needs that emerge throughout a caregiving journey.

Kalin Shop will offer caregiving essentials and equipment for sale or rent, while Kalin Wellness through it’s Care Concierge, Experiences and the Trusted Caregiver Network will connect families with practical caregiving services, curated caregiver wellness programmes and peer care support.

The platform is designed to make care easier to navigate as needs change — from organizing a family’s care circle to finding the right support and resources.

BORN FROM THE REALITY OF FAMILY CAREGIVING

Kalin was created in the Philippines from firsthand experience of navigating the realities of caring for a loved one while balancing family, work and everyday responsibilities.

For founder Larisse Lava-Austria, that experience underscored a reality beyond technology: the emotional and practical weight of caregiving is often carried quietly and invisibly.

“Caregiving can carry a weight that feels invisible, and too often, we are expected to carry it quietly. Through Kalin, I hope to honor the people showing the purest form of love: caregiving. To remind them that they are not alone, and to help them celebrate every single day of the life of the person they care for.”

— Larisse Lava-Austria, Founder of Kalin

KALIN INVITES ITS FIRST FOUNDING PILOT USERS

With the launch, Kalin is inviting its first founding pilot users to use the platform in real caregiving situations while helping shape what gets built next.

The pilot is open to family caregivers, care-circle members, professional caregivers and anyone currently caring for or supporting a loved one.

Founding users will have the opportunity to provide feedback directly from their caregiving experiences as Kalin continues to develop the platform and its wider care ecosystem.

The core Kalin app is free and non-medical.
