OncoBLAZE Introduces SphynxVision, a Portable Fluorescence Imaging System Designed to Help Researchers See Biology in Real-Time

Fort Collins, CO, Sept. 01, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — OncoBLAZE today announced SphynxVision, a new preclinical fluorescence imaging system designed to help researchers see glowing biological signals in real-time during an experiment or intervention, rather than after the intervention as customary with conventional systems. The company is a long-time client of Innosphere and completed the Life Science Accelerator in 2024.

Existing preclinical imaging systems require animals or samples to be placed inside a closed, dark chamber, since ambient light would otherwise drown out the fluorescent signal. That approach limits what researchers can do during imaging. SphynxVision is designed differently: it allows fluorescence imaging under normal room lighting on a lab bench. That means, researchers can continue to perform procedures such as surgery or injection of drugs while imaging is taking place, without interruption.

Fluorescence imaging is a research method that uses special dyes, labels, or biological markers that “glow” when illuminated with the right light. In cancer research and drug development, this helps scientists see where a tumor is, where a drug travels, or how tissue responds to a treatment over time. SphynxVision is intended for preclinical research, meaning studies performed before a technology or treatment is tested in patients.

“SphynxVision was built around the experiment, not around the imaging chamber,” said Dieter Haemmerich, CEO of OncoBLAZE. “Researchers often need to see what is happening while they are performing procedures. Our system makes that possible in a flexible, bench-side system.”

The system combines proprietary illumination technology with patent-pending real-time image processing to eliminate interference from ambient light and display fluorescence images while the experiment is underway.

The platform is especially useful for researchers studying rapid processes. Many biological processes happen quickly, and need rapid imaging technology to follow what’s happening. For example when injecting a drug, the drug often enters tissues within a few seconds. SphynxVision is designed to let researchers watch those rapid changes as they happen, rather than only seeing the result in a final image taken after the procedure.

OncoBLAZE is currently inviting researchers, academic groups, core facilities, biotech companies, pharmaceutical teams, contract research organizations, and medtech innovators to participate in its Pioneer Program for early access and collaboration (www.sphynx-vision.com).

About SphynxVision™
SphynxVision™ is an open, preclinical fluorescence imaging platform developed by OncoBLAZE. The system enables real-time fluorescence imaging under ambient light and is designed to support open, flexible research workflows during surgery, drug administration, and other interventions without requiring a closed chamber.

About OncoBLAZETM
OncoBLAZE is developing technologies for precision cancer therapy after surgery, including triggered nanoparticle approaches and imaging methods designed to visualize drug delivery during treatment.
