At the heart of the PEN camera sits a 20.4-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor, the same found in the OM-5 Mark II. Speaking of lighting conditions, the PEN also adopts many practical features for low light, such as 5.5 steps of shake compensation via the cameras 5-axis in-body image stabilization.

To honor the film look, the OM System PEN offers ART modes and creative color profiles to emulate the look and feel of 35mm film and the tonality it delivered. However, even with a slim design, the PEN Camera comes equipped with the familiar 2.36M dot EVF, also found in the OM-5 Mark II.
Alongside its sensor, EVF, and IBIS system, the PEN comes equipped with all the modern capabilities photographers and creators alike have come to expect. From 4K video recording to high-speed continuous shooting, the PEN is no slouch. For those worried about durability, fret not, as the PEN features an IPX1 certified weather sealed design, meaning users can shoot rain or shine without worry.
To make the PEN Camera even more enticing, OM Systems has decided not only to introduce the new M.Zuiko 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 III alongside it, but also have equipped the PEN with a new, longer-lasting battery. The BLS-7 battery prolongs the cameras shooting life from 310 shots in the OM-5 Mark II to 410 shots. Note that like many new cameras, the physical block charger is available separately.
