LOS ANGELES, Sept. 02, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — NeedTags, an authorized California DMV partner, is calling attention to its same-day registration services for rideshare, delivery, and small-fleet drivers, a group for whom a lapsed registration can mean a suspended driver account and a lost day of income rather than a routine errand.

California has roughly 170 DMV field offices serving a state with more than 36 million registered vehicles, according to figures the department has cited in its own materials. On June 3, 2024, the DMV stopped processing simple, non-delinquent registration renewals at those field-office counters, shifting routine transactions to online portals, self-service kiosks, mail, and authorized business partners such as NeedTags. For a general driver renewing once a year, that shift was a paperwork change. For a driver who earns income by the mile, a multi-week gap between DMV channels and an in-hand registration is a gap in take-home pay — which is why the company built its process around a simple message: Pay Online & Avoid the Fine.

NeedTags processes new vehicle registrations, registered and legal owner transfers, and registrations for vehicles carrying a Manufacturer Statement of Origin or an out-of-state title. The company also handles additions to Permanent Fleet Registration for operators adding vehicles to an existing fleet, a service used by small delivery and courier businesses running more than one vehicle under a single registration.

“We are exponentially faster, provide a personalized experience, and afford no wait times,” said Eddy Asmerian, CEO of NeedTags, describing the company’s process relative to a traditional DMV counter.

Since launch, NeedTags says it has supported roughly 2 million customer interactions, including processed registrations and resolved questions, and processed its millionth vehicle registration last November. The company holds a 4.8-star rating on Shopper Approved, a customer-review platform where motorists submit feedback after a transaction closes. Asmerian has pointed to the scale of the state’s driver population as the reason the company built its process around speed. “That’s not nearly enough,” he said, referring to the number of DMV offices available to serve the state’s registered vehicle owners.

NeedTags operates from North Hollywood, California, and serves drivers and small fleet operators across the state, with replacement registration cards shipped to any U.S. address as soon as the next business day.
