PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 10, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Instinct Science, the veterinary technology company behind Instinct EMR, ScribbleVet, Plumb’s Veterinary Drugs, Standards of Care, and Clinician’s Brief, today announced Attending, a first-of-its-kind clinical AI assistant built exclusively for veterinarians and powered by the industry’s most trusted content.

Attending distills the latest evidence and consensus statements from peer-reviewed content into practical guidance. When veterinarians ask a clinical question in plain language, they receive a specialty-level answer in seconds, with inline citations they can verify in one tap. Unlike general-purpose AI tools or those built on static reference content, Attending draws only from peer-reviewed medical literature, including Plumb’s Veterinary Drugs, Standards of Care, and Clinician’s Brief, kept current continuously by a team of 200+ boarded specialists and pharmacists. Dosing and other safety-critical information is retrieved directly from Plumb’s rather than generated by a model, and every answer shows its sources, empowering veterinarians to make the best decisions for their patients.

“All veterinarians experience high-pressure moments, such as complex cases or drug questions at 2 a.m. when they are the only doctor in the practice. Attending was built for these times, and it’s exactly the kind of support I’ve wanted on my own shifts,” said Caleb Frankel, VMD, founder and CEO of Instinct and an emergency veterinarian.

“For a hundred years, clinical reference was a book on a shelf. Then it became digital and searchable. Attending is the next leap. Veterinarians can ask a clinical question about the specific case in front of them and get an answer the way they would from a favorite specialist. And the answer is grounded in the peer-reviewed references veterinarians rely on every day: Plumb’s Veterinary Drugs, Standards of Care, and Clinician’s Brief, with citations that can be verified,” Frankel continued.

For the past few months, Attending has been used daily by boarded specialists, ER clinicians, and general practitioners at leading centers, including a whole-hospital roll out at the largest veterinary teaching environment in the world, New York’s Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC NY).

“As a leader in veterinary care and education, we always want to be at the forefront of new technology, and that’s exactly why we said yes to being the first veterinary center to trial Attending,” said Dennis Slade, Head of Internal Medicine at the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center. “Attending has proved to be a useful resource for complex cases, questions, and for both personal learning and teaching. It’s critical that the information provided is clinically accurate and peer-reviewed – and with Attending, we now have an AI resource for our practice that meets these standards.”

Attending is currently in an invitation-only research preview phase with hundreds of veterinarians in leading centers across the U.S. In the coming months, Attending will be available as a stand-alone product and as an embedded tool within Instinct EMR and ScribbleVet workflows.
