ICBA deploys an on-demand technical training initiative, establishing an industry-leading construction technology training platform for ICBA and Merit Canada members

SURREY, British Columbia, Sept. 07, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Independent Contractors and Businesses Association (ICBA) today announced a major construction technology training initiative in collaboration with Global eTraining, the construction industry’s leading AI-powered digital adoption platform.

This strategic partnership continues to position ICBA as the premier leader in construction training, launching an initiative to bring advanced technical training in-house, expand digital training capabilities across Canada, and directly empower our members and their employees.

With the Canadian construction industry facing an urgent need for skilled labour and rapid technological adoption, contractors require flexible, immediate access to software proficiency. Through this partnership, Global eTraining and ICBA address an operational bottleneck: eliminating reliance on offsite training, rigid schedules, or fragmented third-party providers by creating structured learning pathways across field, administrative, and leadership roles.

Previously, member teams needing technical mastery in specific BIM platforms often faced delays getting access to relevant training, along with limited infrastructure to track employee development. By delivering Global eTraining’s catalogue directly through ICBA’s Learning Management System, ICBA creates a more seamless, accessible and measurable learning experience.

ICBA will offer members access to hundreds of Global eTraining’s practical, on-demand construction technology courses through its existing learning platform. The catalogue will provide flexible learning opportunities for construction professionals who want to build confidence with the digital tools and workflows increasingly used across the industry.

Key features include:

  • On-demand software training: Hundreds of cutting-edge courses covering leading Autodesk applications—including Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Forma and Civil 3D—alongside other widely used construction tools and topics such as Procore, Bluebeam, Revizto, Bentley, BIM, laser scanning, GIS, digital twins, AI, and safety.
  • Flexible, self-paced learning: Members can choose training that fits their role, current skill level, and schedule, helping them build practical knowledge they can apply on the job.
  • An evolving course catalogue: The partnership gives ICBA the ability to expand and tailor the training selection over time, including the potential to add new courses and language variations in response to member and industry needs.

“ICBA is proud to partner with Global eTraining to significantly expand access to practical, cutting-edge construction technology training for our members,” said Nicola Blockley, Education Manager at ICBA. “By bringing this high-quality, robust portfolio of learning directly to our members through a familiar platform, we are making digital skills more accessible at every stage of a person’s career – supporting more competitive businesses, more confident teams, and an industry better equipped for the future.”

“We are thrilled to launch this Construction Technology Training Initiative with ICBA,” said Susan Brattberg, Global eTraining’s Chief Customer Officer. “Our AI-powered platform enables organizations to leverage the largest AECO course library. By combining ICBA’s deep national leadership with our ever-growing construction technology course library, we have created a model that equips fellow Canadian contractors with essential job-ready digital skills.”

The rollout has begun ahead of a broader launch in mid-September, culminating in an official showcase at ICBA’s Meet the Generals event in Edmonton on September 29, 2026, and the ICBA Construction Innovation Summit in Vancouver in November. ICBA members can expect information about accessing the exciting new course offerings in the coming weeks. ICBA will also join Global eTraining at Autodesk University.
