New York, Sept. 01, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — What if understanding the menstrual cycle could help prevent recurring spikes in suicidal thoughts? For many female patients, suicidal thoughts and attempts follow the hormone shifts of the menstrual cycle. The cause is not abnormal hormone levels, but how sensitive the brain is to normal hormone change. Join us for a free webinar, “Hormones, the Brain, and Female Suicide Risk” on September 8, 2026, at 2pm ET. Tory Anne Eisenlohr-Moul, Ph.D. will discuss results of double-blind clinical trials conducted by her team demonstrating that stabilizing hormone changes can prevent these monthly spikes in suicidal thinking for some patients and has identified early biomarkers that could one day help us identify those who might benefit from cycle-focused treatment.

Dr. Eisenlohr-Moul is a professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Chicago and a recipient of a 2018 Young Investigator Grant. The webinar moderator, Jeffrey Borenstein, M.D., is President & CEO of the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation and host of the Emmy® nominated television series Healthy Minds.

Register Here to learn how Dr. Eisenlohr-Moul’s research could transform our understanding of hormones, the brain, and female suicide risk.
