New hospitality venue combines live sports, American-inspired food and international business experience as GOAT Sports Bar begins operations in Medellín

MEDELLÍN, Colombia, Sept. 16, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — GOAT Sports Bar has officially opened in Medellín’s El Poblado district, introducing an American-style sports bar concept that combines live sports, American-inspired food and an international hospitality experience.
Located at Calle 10 #35-23 near Medellín’s Provenza district, GOAT Sports Bar was developed by Canadian entrepreneur Derek Ivany in partnership with Karl Mitmannsgruber of Australia and Marco Talamantez of Texas. The venue is operated by GOAT Hospitality Group SAS and is designed to provide Medellín residents and the city’s international community with a dedicated destination for watching major sporting events.
“GOAT was created around a simple idea: bringing the atmosphere of an American game day to Medellín while building something that can grow beyond a single location,” said Derek Ivany, founder of GOAT Hospitality Group. “After spending years building businesses and projects in Medellín, this represents a new direction for me and an opportunity to combine my experience here with an international hospitality concept.”
The venue places a significant focus on technology and the sports-viewing experience, with a substantial portion of the build dedicated to its visual and entertainment systems. More than 520 square feet of television displays are featured throughout the space, including a large centerpiece screen designed to enhance visibility during live sporting events. Intelligent lighting is programmed to complement team and national colors, scoring plays and fighter walkouts, while ultra-fine haze is used to enhance the lighting effects without obstructing the screens. Together, these features are designed to create an engaging environment for guests watching live sports.
GOAT Sports Bar offers live coverage of major sporting events, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, UFC, boxing, the Premier League, the Champions League, Liga, Formula 1 and other international competitions. The venue also plans programming around major sporting events and game-day occasions.
The food and beverage program draws on the backgrounds and travels of the founding partners. Menu offerings include charbroiled burgers, Nashville hot chicken, Chicken Wings with 23 flavors, BBQ Ribs, Mexican favorites and Canadian poutine. Weekend brunch is available Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring American diner-style dishes such as chicken and waffles and blueberry pancakes in partnership with Chef Rodrick Oliver from California.
The venue also features a collection of sports memorabilia assembled by the founding partners and a dedicated luxury cigar lounge on the second level, providing additional spaces for guests beyond the main sports-bar area.
A New Direction in Medellín
The opening of GOAT Sports Bar represents a new direction for Ivany following approximately 10 years of business and project experience in Medellín.
Ivany’s previous ventures have included Capri Sanduchería, a traditional sandwich shop in Medellín, Afrodisia Nightclub, luxury real-estate as well as other projects spanning health and wellness, horse racing and technology in Canada and USA. His experience in the city has contributed to the development of GOAT Sports Bar as a hospitality concept combining international influences with a focus on the Medellín market.
The project brings together partners from Canada, the United States and Australia, combining experience from different hospitality and business environments. The collaboration is intended to create a concept that can develop beyond its initial Medellín location.
Exploring Future Opportunities
GOAT Hospitality Group SAS is already in discussions regarding potential franchise locations in Bogotá and Cartagena, with additional Colombian and international markets being considered.
