New property enhancement initiative brings upgraded lighting, enhanced signage and thoughtful exterior improvements together to help guests feel safer, more comfortable and confident from the moment they arrive

DALLAS, Sept. 09, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — G6 Hospitality, parent company of the Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands, today announced the launch of G6 Shining, a new property enhancement initiative focused on creating a safer, more welcoming and comfortable experience for guests from the moment they arrive. The initiative is designed to strengthen the sense of safety and confidence guests feel when arriving at a property, with exterior enhancements tailored to the needs of each participating location. These will include upgraded exterior and pathway lighting, energy-efficient LED fixtures, enhanced signage, architectural lighting, exterior artwork, and other property improvements that make properties easier to identify, navigate and experience.

For more than six decades, Motel 6 has welcomed travelers with its iconic promise – ‘We’ll leave the light on for you.’ G6 Shining builds on that legacy by extending the meaning behind that promise beyond the guest room. Together, the enhancements are designed to create a more visible, well-lit, and well-maintained environment, helping guests feel more secure and at ease as they arrive, navigate the property and make their way to their room.

The initiative reflects a simple principle that choosing an economy hotel should not mean compromising on the experience. Guests should be able to choose a smart price while still feeling comfortable, confident, and good about where they stay. G6 Shining brings that thinking to life through practical improvements designed around the guest journey.

“For more than 60 years, Motel 6 has been guided by a simple philosophy of making every traveler feel welcome from the moment they arrive. For generations of road travelers, the sight of a well-lit Motel 6 has meant the journey for the day is almost over. G6 Shining builds on that legacy by enhancing the way our properties look and feel, creating a warmer, more welcoming and secure arrival experience for guests. First impressions matter, and thoughtful improvements to the environment around our guests play an important role in how they experience our brands. Choosing an economy hotel should not mean compromising on the experience, and G6 Shining is about making that experience better while staying true to the value our brands have always provided,” said Ankit Tandon, Vice Chairman, G6 Hospitality.

G6 Shining will begin with a select group of pilot properties before expanding across the Motel 6 and Studio 6 network over time. While the specific enhancements will vary based on the needs and characteristics of each property, the focus will remain on creating a more welcoming, comfortable, and confident experience for guests.

“G6 Shining is a meaningful investment in the future of our brands and in the properties where our guests experience them every day. We recognize the important role the physical environment plays in helping guests feel safe and comfortable about their stay. By improving lighting, visibility, signage and the overall presentation of our properties, we are putting tangible investment behind the experience we want Motel 6 and Studio 6 to deliver. At the same time, the initiative gives our franchise owners an opportunity to strengthen their properties and enhance the value they provide to guests,” said Anuj Ladha, National Head of Brand Performance, G6 Hospitality.

As the initiative expands, G6 Shining will support G6 Hospitality’s efforts to thoughtfully evolve the Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands for today’s travelers, while giving franchise owners an opportunity to enhance the presentation and experience of their properties.
