Offering: Ancient and Timeless Chants Album Cover

A new album of Vedic and Sanskrit chants brings ancient Indian musical traditions into the present, offering a space for reflection, connection, and well-being.

Offering: Ancient and Timeless Chants Now Available: Listen Here

NEW YORK, Aug. 21, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — GRAMMY® Award-winning vocalist and composer Falu, GRAMMY®-nominated singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Gaurav Shah, and their 15-year-old son Nishaad Shah come together for a deeply personal new album rooted in the musical and spiritual traditions of South Asia.

Released today, Offering: Ancient and Timeless Chants brings ancient traditions into a contemporary listening experience. The album features Vedic and Sanskrit chants, bhajans, prayers, and devotional works in a cinematic family recording that connects centuries-old spiritual music with the modern language of reflection, meditation, and well-being.

“We wanted to make something that people could turn to when they need a moment of peace, light, or connection,” says the Shah family. “These chants have been part of our lives and our spiritual traditions for generations, and our hope is that they can bring something meaningful to anyone who listens, regardless of where they come from or what they believe.”

At the heart of Offering is a story that is both musical and deeply personal: a mother, father, and son singing together and carrying forward a tradition that has been passed through teachers, families, and generations. The album features timeless works including “Asato Ma Sadgamaya,” Ganesh Shloka “Vakratunda Mahakaya,” “Madhurashtakam,” “Gayatri Mantra,” “Om Jai Jagdish Hare,” “Om Sahana Vavatu,” “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram,” and Saraswati Vandana “Ya Kundendu Tusharahara Dhavala.”

Produced by El Cerrito Records along with a team of GRAMMY® Award-winning producers and engineers, and including a wide array of professional musicians, the recording is designed as an invitation to listen deeply and reconnect with the enduring power of this music. Chant has long held an important place within Indian musical and spiritual traditions, and Offering approaches these works as music that can become part of everyday moments of listening, reflection, meditation, and well-being.

Born and raised in Mumbai and trained in the Jaipur Gharana tradition, Falu has built a career blending Indian classical music with contemporary sounds. She has collaborated with acclaimed artists including Yo-Yo Ma and A.R. Rahman, and has performed at Carnegie Hall and the White House.

For Gaurav Shah, Offering marks a return to the Hindustani classical and spiritual traditions that helped shape his musical life. His journey includes studying bansuri with Pandit Ronu Majumdar, becoming an initiated disciple of Ustad Sultan Khan, and performing across genres on stages including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Lollapalooza, and Wolf Trap.

Now 15, Nishaad continues his study of Indian music alongside his parents, carrying the family’s musical tradition into a new generation. On Offering, the three come together to share these ancient chants with today’s listeners through a recording shaped by family, tradition, and the experience of passing music from one generation to the next.
