Dr. Kerry Evans Scholarship

SEGUIN, Texas, Aug. 28, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Dr. Kerry Evans Scholarship for Sciences announces a new opportunity for undergraduate students across the United States who are pursuing science-related degrees and demonstrating a strong commitment to scientific inquiry. The one-time scholarship initiative is designed to support students as they develop the knowledge, skills, and perspective needed to contribute to the future of science.

The scholarship is open to currently enrolled undergraduate students attending accredited institutions. Eligible applicants are pursuing a degree in a science-related field and must meet the program’s academic and residency requirements. The opportunity is intended for students who demonstrate academic commitment, critical thinking, and a genuine interest in advancing scientific understanding.

Scholarship Invites Students to Explore the Future of Science

The Dr. Kerry Evans Scholarship for Sciences asks applicants to consider the collaborative nature of scientific discovery through a 1,000-word essay responding to the prompt: “Science is a collaborative endeavor that builds upon the discoveries of those who came before. Discuss a scientific breakthrough that has inspired you and explain how you envision contributing to the field.”

The essay provides applicants with an opportunity to demonstrate writing ability, analytical thinking, and passion for scientific inquiry. Students are encouraged to examine the broader significance of the scientific breakthrough they select while connecting that discovery to their own academic interests and future career objectives.

Applicants must be currently enrolled undergraduate students at an accredited institution, pursuing a science-related degree, maintaining the scholarship’s minimum GPA requirement, and holding U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.

Dr. Kerry Evans Establishes Scholarship With Focus on Scientific Progress

Dr. Kerry Evans is an emergency room physician with more than two decades of experience in healthcare. His professional background includes emergency medicine, trauma care, patient management, medical leadership, and service as a medical director. He is board certified in Family Medicine and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Murray State University, a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and completed a Family Medicine residency at Southern Illinois University.

Through the Dr. Kerry Evans Scholarship, Dr. Kerry Evans extends his commitment to education beyond clinical practice. The scholarship reflects his interest in encouraging students to pursue scientific disciplines and consider how their future work can contribute to meaningful advancements.

“Scientific progress depends on curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to build on what has already been discovered,” says Dr. Kerry Evans. “Supporting students who are prepared to ask important questions and pursue evidence-based solutions represents an investment in the future of science.”

Application Deadline Set for May 15, 2027

The Dr. Kerry Evans Scholarship for Sciences provides a one-time $1,000 award to the selected undergraduate recipient. Applications must be submitted by May 15, 2027, with the scholarship winner scheduled to be announced on June 15, 2027.

To apply, students complete the online application, submit the required 1,000-word essay, provide official transcripts, obtain letters of recommendation from professors or other qualified individuals, and submit all required documentation before the deadline.

The scholarship is not restricted to students in a particular U.S. city or state, allowing eligible undergraduate students nationwide to be considered. By supporting a student pursuing science, Dr. Kerry Evans aims to encourage continued academic development and participation in a field that plays a central role in addressing complex challenges.

Additional information about eligibility, the essay prompt, application requirements, and submission process is available through the official scholarship website.
