CORTINA D’AMPEZZO – The Canadian mixed doubles curling team’s playoff chances took another hit Sunday with a 7-6 loss to Sweden at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium.

Brett Gallant and Jocelyn Peterman have dropped four straight games and fell to 3-4 in round-robin play.

Sweden’s Rasmus Wrana and Isabella Wrana (5-3) scored three points in the seventh end and held Canada to a single in the eighth for the win.

The Canadians still have a slim chance of making the four-team cut for the semifinals. They’ll need to win their two remaining games and hope other results fall in their favour.

Gallant and Peterman, from Chestermere, Alta., will play South Korea’s Seonyeong Kim and Yeongseok Jeong (2-5) in the evening. Canada’s round-robin finale is set for Monday morning against Switzerland’s Yannick Schwaller and Briar Schwaller-Huerlimann (3-3).

The semifinals will be played Monday night and the medal games are set for Tuesday.
