World-first all-in-one energy storage system with Smart Port and Backup Port integration brings greater flexibility, resilience and intelligent energy management to South African homes

SANDTON, South Africa, Sept. 14, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Sigenergy (06656.HK) today announced the South African launch of SigenStor Neo, its next-generation all-in-one residential energy storage system, at the Herholdt’s Group Summit 2026, held at The Galleria in Sandton.

The launch introduces Sigenergy’s latest residential energy innovation to the South African market, combining energy storage, power conversion, energy management and intelligent control within one integrated platform.

At the centre of SigenStor Neo is its new Smart Port and Backup Port architecture. As the world’s first all-in-one energy storage system to integrate both a dedicated Smart Port and Backup Port, SigenStor Neo is designed to become the central hub of a broader home energy ecosystem.

For South African homeowners, this creates greater flexibility when building, upgrading or expanding a home energy system. The Smart Port can connect third-party inverters, external generators and EV chargers, allowing different energy assets to work within a more integrated system, while the Backup Port supports extended power supply to household loads during grid interruptions.

“South Africa is an important market for Sigenergy, with customers increasingly looking for energy solutions that provide greater resilience, flexibility and control. SigenStor Neo represents the next evolution of our residential offering, combining advanced hardware with intelligent energy management in one integrated system. We are excited to officially introduce it to the South African market together with our partners at the Herholdt’s Group Summit.”
— Eon Geldenhuys, Senior Regional Solution & Service Manager – Africa at Sigenergy

The Core of a More Flexible Home Energy Ecosystem

SigenStor Neo builds on Sigenergy’s all-in-one approach by integrating the inverter, battery, power conversion system (PCS), energy management system (EMS) and gateway into a single streamlined system.

The addition of the Smart Port expands this concept beyond energy storage alone. It gives homeowners greater freedom to connect additional energy resources and devices as their requirements evolve.

For a homeowner with an existing inverter, for example, the Smart Port provides a pathway to integrate that equipment rather than treating the new storage system as an entirely separate installation. An external generator can also be incorporated into the wider home energy setup, while EV charging can form part of the same connected ecosystem.

This flexibility is particularly relevant for South African customers who may be upgrading an existing solar installation, adding storage to an established system or planning for future energy requirements.

Rather than designing the home around multiple independent energy devices, SigenStor Neo is designed to bring these elements together around a central energy platform.

Designed for Reliable Backup Power

Alongside its connectivity features, SigenStor Neo has been engineered to provide reliable household backup power.

The system delivers 0 ms load-side disruption and up to 200% peak power output capacity, helping household loads continue operating when grid power is interrupted.

The dedicated Backup Port further strengthens this capability by providing a flexible extended power supply for household loads during unexpected grid outages.

For South African households where backup capability remains an important consideration, these features provide a more integrated approach to managing the transition between grid power, stored energy and other available energy resources.

The Smart Port also enables an external generator to form part of the system, giving homeowners additional flexibility in how backup resources are configured and used.

Storage That Can Grow with the Home

SigenStor Neo has also been designed around modularity and long-term flexibility.

Its architecture supports up to six vertically stacked battery modules, allowing homeowners to configure storage capacity according to their current requirements and expand the system as their energy needs change.

This means customers can start with a system suited to their present electricity consumption rather than necessarily installing their maximum future storage requirement from the outset.

A built-in pack optimiser further supports future expansion by allowing compatible old and new batteries to operate within the same system. The system also incorporates an eight-layer protection architecture designed to enhance safety throughout operation.

For households whose energy requirements may change over time – whether through increased electricity consumption, additional solar capacity or future EV ownership – the modular approach provides a clear pathway for expansion.

Simpler Installation for Energy Professionals

The all-in-one architecture also delivers practical benefits for installers.

By integrating the inverter, battery, PCS, EMS and gateway within one system, SigenStor Neo reduces the need for multiple separate components and associated wiring.

The system uses lightweight modules with lifting handles, a single side cover for wiring, and an optimised terminal layout and installation process designed to reduce deployment time and on-site labour.

For installers, this can simplify deployment while also enabling a cleaner and more compact installation for the homeowner.

Bringing AI into Home Energy Management

SigenStor Neo forms part of Sigenergy’s wider “AI in All” strategy, through which artificial intelligence is integrated across the company’s energy ecosystem.

At the heart of the intelligent management layer is SigenAgent, Sigenergy’s all-domain AI energy agent operating through mySigen App 4.0.

Rather than requiring homeowners to manually manage every operating parameter, SigenAgent enables users to set broader objectives, such as reducing electricity costs or maintaining sufficient backup power. The system can then analyse conditions and automatically coordinate connected hardware in support of those objectives.

This combination of intelligent software and connected hardware allows SigenStor Neo to operate as more than a standalone storage system. It becomes part of a wider home energy ecosystem in which generation, storage, backup resources and connected devices can be managed together.

Introducing the Next Generation of SigenStor to South Africa

The launch of SigenStor Neo at the Herholdt’s Group Summit 2026 provides Sigenergy with an opportunity to introduce its latest residential energy technology directly to South Africa’s solar and energy industry.

The Summit brings together professionals across solar technology, artificial intelligence and business strategy, with Sigenergy participating through technology presentations and relevant project case studies.

Introducing SigenStor Neo at the event also reflects Sigenergy’s continued focus on working closely with local partners, installers and customers as new energy technologies are introduced to the South African market.

Sigenergy

With its combination of all-in-one design, world-first Smart Port and Backup Port integration, modular scalability, backup capability and AI-driven energy management, SigenStor Neo represents the next generation of Sigenergy’s residential energy storage offering in South Africa.
