CMiC Earns ISO 42001 Certification

Toronto, Sept. 01, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — CMiC, a leading provider of AI-powered construction ERP, today announced that it has achieved ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification for its Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS), covering AL, its AI-powered analytics and reporting chatbot within the NEXUS platform. This certification reinforces CMiC’s commitment to developing and delivering AI technologies in a responsible manner. The certified AIMS governs the design, development, deployment, and operation of CMiC’s certified AI chatbot within the NEXUS platform, within a structured and internationally recognized framework.  The certification was performed by Schellman, an accredited ISO 42001 certification body.

“Achieving ISO 42001 certification reflects CMiC’s commitment to building AI capabilities that are not only innovative, but also governed by robust frameworks for security, transparency, and accountability. As AI becomes increasingly central to construction technology, our customers can trust that we are embedding responsible AI practices into every stage of development and delivery,” commented Joseph Kwok, Chief Information Security Officer — CMiC.

“CMiC’s ISO 42001 certification demonstrates the kind of rigorous AI governance that construction technology providers need as AI becomes embedded in mission-critical workflows like cost control and project delivery. Schellman is proud to have conducted this certification, independently verifying that CMiC has built structured controls across the full AI lifecycle — from design and deployment through monitoring and continuous improvement,” said Danny Manimbo, Managing Principal and AI Services Leader, Schellman.

This governance framework is not theoretical; in fact, it is already operating inside CMiC’s leading AI-powered ERP, NEXUS.

CMiC NEXUS: Leading Construction Innovation with Platform-Wide AI Capabilities

Launched in 2026, NEXUS extends its power across the entire platform, including CMiC’s certified AI chatbot AL, and alongside a broader set of AI capabilities. The application suite revolutionizes how construction teams interact with data, automate workflows, and make critical business decisions. Powered by large language models (LLMs), NEXUS provides the foundation for agentic workflows. Teams can query their data using natural language, delegate time-consuming tasks to AI-enabled task agents, and use sentiment analysis to catch potential project issues before they escalate. With a modernized interface and stronger system performance, NEXUS eliminates manual processes and frees teams to focus on strategic, high-value work.

Key business benefits NEXUS delivers:

  • Improved Cost Control and Data Integrity: NEXUS strengthens cost control and data integrity through AI automation, eliminating manual errors. AI agents handle reconciliation, PO matching, and cost coding for accurate, real-time data.
  • Transformation of Quality Data into Smart Decisions: Conversational AI replaces complex reporting with natural language queries, making analytics accessible to everyone, no technical expertise required.
  • Accelerated Project Delivery and Streamlined Operations: AI agents deployed across CMiC modules eliminate manual intervention and cut processing time for routine tasks.

“Our AI-powered features offer users advanced data visualization capabilities, business intelligence tools, and the ability to leverage natural language to optimize key business functions. This development underscores CMiC’s dedication to continuous innovation and the integration of customer feedback into our product evolution, positioning us as a technology leader at the forefront of AI-driven construction ERP solutions,” stated Gord Rawlins, President & CEO — CMiC.

In practice, innovation at this pace only earns customer trust when it is matched by equally rigorous oversight, which is precisely what the ISO 42001 certification is designed to verify.

CMiC’s Commitment to Incorporate Responsible AI in Construction ERP

ISO/IEC 42001 is the global standard for artificial intelligence management systems, establishing requirements for organizations to ensure AI is developed and used responsibly. By achieving this certification, CMiC demonstrates that it has implemented formal governance processes to address AI-related risks, data management, transparency, and ethical considerations across the AI lifecycle.

The AIMS also addresses emerging AI-specific risks, such as data poisoning and model manipulation, through proactive identification and mitigation processes. In alignment with ISO/IEC 42001 requirements, CMiC provides transparency to customers and stakeholders regarding the capabilities, limitations, and appropriate use of its AI systems, along with defined channels for reporting issues or adverse impacts.

The certification confirms that CMiC has implemented structured controls across the full AI system lifecycle, from initial design and data selection to validation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Built to Evolve: A Long-Term Commitment to Responsible AI Growth

CMiC’s NEXUS AI features operate within the company’s established security architecture, leveraging authentication controls, role-based access mechanisms, and audit logging to ensure secure and traceable interactions. With NEXUS already adopted by the vast majority of CMiC customers, a growing number of customer champions are reporting measurable results.

“NEXUS represents a fundamental shift in how construction teams interact with their ERP. From agentic workflows that handle complex tasks autonomously, to ‘AL’ delivering instant insights, to AI woven directly into the tools you use every day — it all comes together in a modern, unified experience. This is construction technology reimagined for the AI era,” remarked Steve Cangiano, Chief Product Officer — CMiC. Backed by robust capabilities, a growing roster of customer champions, and its latest ISO certification, CMiC’s AI growth trajectory has never looked stronger.     About CMiC: As an industry pioneer, CMiC delivers complete and unified Financials and Project Management software solutions for construction and capital projects firms.
