OLD TOWN, Maine, Aug. 27, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — TurbineOne, the frontline AI company, today announced the opening of T1 MachineWorks, a new defense technology innovation hub in Old Town, Maine built to accelerate how quickly frontline requirements become working capabilities.

At T1 MachineWorks, TurbineOne engineers can experiment across software and hardware in one place—adapting AI models locally, integrating autonomy software across platforms, rapidly prototyping hardware, and testing the results in real-world environments. Work will include experimentation with autonomous systems and cross-platform autonomy software, as well as 3D manufacturing and rapid prototyping for aerial platforms and other defense technology applications. The focus is the frontline: rapidly building and adapting technology to perform where connectivity is limited, conditions change quickly, and the mission can’t wait.

“T1 MachineWorks gives our engineers the freedom to experiment across software and autonomous hardware. We will collaborate with local manufacturing partners to iterate quickly,” said Ian Kalin, CEO of TurbineOne. “It will accelerate the delivery of valuable solutions to the frontlines.”

TurbineOne expects to make an initial $275,000 investment in its Maine operations and create over 20 jobs over 5 years. The company has also been designated a qualified business under Maine’s Dirigo Business Incentives Program.

Defense Tech in Maine

TurbineOne selected Old Town for its proximity to the University of Maine and the region’s growing defense technology and advanced manufacturing ecosystem, along with access to aerial and maritime environments for real-world testing.

The location brings together technical talent, research infrastructure and the space to build, test and iterate—all within minutes of MachineWorks.
