Known as “Dr. 90210,” Dr. Rey returns to focus on surgeon education, Ayon technology and support for people living with lipedema

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 27, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — PRM Cosmetic Surgery today announced a new surgeon-training initiative led by Dr. Robert Rey, known to television audiences as “Dr. 90210,” as he returns to a greater public and professional role focused on physician education, surgical training and patient-centered care.

After stepping away from the public eye while undergoing treatment for cancer, Dr. Rey has fully recovered and is returning with a renewed focus on teaching, training and supporting physicians and patients. His next chapter centers on sharing his experience with other surgeons while supporting efforts to improve education and access to information for patients.

Dr. Rey will collaborate with PRM Cosmetic Surgery in Woodland Hills, working alongside his former fellow, Dr. Maria Diaz, as they develop the Ayon Academy. The program will provide education and practical training for plastic and cosmetic surgeons, with a focus on current liposculpture techniques and the use of the Ayon 4-1 system.

Through the Ayon Academy, physicians will receive practical instruction designed to complement their existing surgical experience. The training will emphasize technique, practical instruction and patient-centered approaches that physicians can incorporate into their professional practices.

For Dr. Rey, the initiative is about more than technical instruction. He believes patients deserve more than a procedure; they deserve guidance, compassion and a clear standard of care they can rely on.

“Patients deserve more than a procedure,” said Dr. Rey. “They deserve guidance, compassion, and a clear standard of care they can trust. Training physicians is one way we can help improve that experience.”

Alongside the training program, Dr. Rey is also launching the Ayon Body Lipedema Foundation, an initiative focused on education, awareness and expanding access to information and care for individuals living with lipedema.

For many people living with lipedema, finding appropriate information and care can be challenging on both a personal and financial level. The foundation will focus on addressing some of those barriers through education and awareness while exploring ways to support more accessible treatment options.

Dr. Rey’s return places greater emphasis on sharing his surgical experience with other physicians and supporting patients through education and access to information. The training program and foundation initiative reflect this broader professional focus.

Physicians, media representatives and community leaders are invited to meet with Dr. Rey, learn more about the Ayon Academy and see the Ayon 4-1 system firsthand. Interview opportunities, meetings and demonstrations are available for qualified media and professional inquiries.

“We want physicians and patients to have access to better information and practical resources,” said Dr. Rey. “The goal is to help surgeons continue learning while giving patients the information and support they need.”
