Former U.S. Army Combined Arms Center Commander to Advise By Light on Army Training, Readiness, and Modernization Strategy

By Light welcomes Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Milford H. Beagle Jr.
to its Board of Advisors.

MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 24, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — By Light Professional IT Services LLC (By Light), a leading provider of advanced technology solutions for Defense and National Security missions, today announced that retired U.S. Army Lieutenant General Milford H. “Beags” Beagle Jr. has joined the company’s Advisory Board.

LTG (Ret.) Beagle brings 35 years of Army leadership and operational experience to By Light, with deep expertise in training, doctrine, leader development, combat operations, organizational learning and Army modernization. In his advisory role, he will provide strategic counsel to By Light’s leadership as the company expands its Modeling, Simulation & Training capabilities and develops next-generation solutions to prepare Soldiers and formations for increasingly complex and contested operating environments.

“Lieutenant General Beagle brings an extraordinary understanding of how the Army trains, develops leaders and prepares formations to fight and win,” said Bob Donahue, CEO of By Light. “His perspective will be invaluable as we determine where technology can have the greatest impact on Soldier and unit readiness. More importantly, he understands training from the Soldier and commander perspective—what works, what doesn’t, and what the Army will need as it prepares for the next fight. We are extremely pleased to welcome him to the By Light Advisory Board.”

Beagle concluded his Army career as Commanding General of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center (CAC) and Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. In that role, he led an enterprise responsible for Army doctrine, professional military education, leader development, training and lessons learned, helping translate operational requirements and emerging challenges into how the Army learns, trains and prepares leaders and formations for the future.

As a member of By Light’s Advisory Board, Beagle will provide insight into the evolving requirements of Soldiers, commanders and formations and help guide the company’s strategy for developing and delivering training capabilities that improve readiness and battlefield performance. His counsel will be particularly valuable as By Light advances the integration of live, virtual and synthetic training; artificial intelligence and computer vision; data-driven performance assessment; and other commercial technologies into realistic training environments.

“The character of warfare is changing rapidly, and the way we prepare Soldiers must change with it,” said Beagle. “Technology alone is not enough. Training has to replicate the complexity, speed and uncertainty Soldiers and leaders will face in combat while giving them the ability to assess performance, learn and adapt. By Light brings together technology, training expertise and a genuine understanding of the warfighter. I look forward to helping the team anticipate what Soldiers and commanders will need next and accelerate useful capabilities into their hands.”

During his Army career, Beagle commanded at multiple levels from platoon through division. He served in Iraq and Afghanistan and held assignments throughout the United States and overseas, including the Republic of Korea and Hawaii. His senior leadership assignments included Deputy Commanding General (Support), 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), including a deployment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve; Commanding General of the U.S. Army Training Center and Fort Jackson; and Commanding General of the 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum.

At the Combined Arms Center, Beagle led efforts spanning doctrine, training, education, lessons learned and leader development while supporting the Army’s ongoing modernization and preparation for future conflict. His experience connecting operational requirements, leader development and institutional learning provides By Light with a distinctive perspective as the company develops technologies designed to make training more realistic, measurable and operationally relevant.

Beagle was commissioned as an Infantry officer after graduating from South Carolina State University in 1990 as a Distinguished Military Graduate. He holds master’s degrees from Kansas State University and the U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies at Fort Leavenworth and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Leadership Studies at Louisiana State University Shreveport.
