Industrial Laser Market

Dublin, Aug. 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The “Industrial Laser Market Research Report 2026-2031” has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com’s offering.

Global Industrial Laser Market Forecast to Grow at 5.80% CAGR Through 2031, Led by APAC Manufacturing Demand

The global industrial laser market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.80% from 2025 to 2031. Market expansion is being supported by rising investment in automated manufacturing, electric vehicle and battery production, semiconductor fabrication, precision electronics, and advanced metal processing.

Asia-Pacific (APAC) accounted for approximately 53% of the global industrial laser market in 2025, making it the leading regional market. Its position is supported by extensive automotive, electronics, semiconductor, machinery, and metal fabrication capacity. OICA reported that Asia-Oceania produced 54.9 million motor vehicles in 2024, sustaining demand for laser cutting, welding, marking, and automated processing systems.

Key Industrial Laser Market Highlights

  • Medium-power industrial lasers represented the largest market share by power output in 2025.
  • CO? lasers held the second-largest share by type, accounting for approximately 21% of the market.
  • Semiconductor and electronics is forecast to be the fastest-growing end-user segment, registering a CAGR of 7.14% through 2031.
  • Laser cutting remained the largest application segment.
  • APAC led the global market with an estimated share of approximately 53% in 2025.
  • India is projected to record the highest country-level CAGR during the forecast period.

Automation, Electrification and Precision Manufacturing Drive Growth

Industrial laser welding is increasingly being integrated with seam tracking, adaptive welding, robotic automation, and real-time process monitoring. These capabilities help manufacturers improve process consistency, prevent defects, reduce rework, and maintain quality across high-repeatability production environments.

Electrification is also accelerating demand for industrial laser systems. Electric vehicle and energy storage manufacturing require precision processing for battery cell tabs, busbars, electrodes, case sealing, e-motor hairpins, and power electronics. Global electric vehicle battery demand exceeded 750 GWh in 2023, according to the International Energy Agency, while U.S. battery manufacturing capacity surpassed 200 GWh in 2024, with nearly 700 GWh under construction.

Visible-wavelength laser technologies are gaining importance in copper-intensive applications. Blue diode lasers provide enhanced processing stability for electrical contacts, battery components, thin sheets, and foils. As copper consumption increases across electric vehicles, batteries, and power electronics, manufacturers are prioritizing wavelength selection, controlled heat input, low spatter, and repeatable joining performance.

Market Segmentation Insights

Medium-power systems led the industrial laser market in 2025, supported by adoption across sheet cutting, tube processing, and robotic welding. Systems in the 1 kW to 6 kW range remain central to automotive, appliance, industrial equipment, and contract manufacturing operations requiring production flexibility and consistent output.

By laser type, CO? systems accounted for approximately 21% of the market. Demand remains established across plastics, paper, textiles, leather, glass, packaging, consumer products, and light manufacturing. Solid-state lasers are expected to record significant growth through 2031 as semiconductor, electronics, and medical device manufacturers expand precision processing operations.

Semiconductor and electronics is forecast to grow at a 7.14% CAGR, driven by wafer dicing, scribing, trimming, package marking, and PCB microvia formation. Investment in miniaturization, high-density electronics, domestic semiconductor capacity, and advanced packaging is creating additional opportunities for precision laser equipment suppliers.

Laser cutting remained the largest application segment, covering 2D sheet cutting, tube cutting, and 3D contour processing. Adoption is increasing as manufacturers digitize fabrication, automate material handling, reduce changeover times, and expand production of electric vehicle chassis, renewable energy structures, and precision metal components.

Regional Industrial Laser Market Outlook

India is projected to achieve the fastest growth from 2025 to 2031. Expansion is being supported by semiconductor and electronics projects moving into implementation, including Tata Electronics’ planned Dholera, Gujarat facility with capacity of approximately 50,000 wafer starts per month. Government incentives under the India Semiconductor Mission are expected to stimulate demand for laser-based precision manufacturing equipment.

Europe held the second-largest market share in 2025, supported by its automotive, machinery, electronics, and regulated manufacturing industries. EU vehicle production reached 11.4 million units in 2024, according to ACEA, reinforcing demand for automated laser cutting, welding, marking, and precision fabrication.

Recent Industrial Laser Product Developments

  • HGTECH showcased automated silicon carbide wafer laser annealing equipment and ultra-high-speed flat-wire laser paint removal technology for semiconductor and electric vehicle manufacturing.
  • Yamazaki Mazak introduced the OPTIPLEX 3015 HP and 4220 HP high-power 2D fibre laser processing machines for high-quality thick-plate production.
  • Bodor Laser launched the EC Series sheet-metal fibre laser cutting platform with shuttle tables for entry-level and mid-tier fabrication operations.
  • Penta Laser launched PENTA LASER EUROPE at Blechexpo 2025, strengthening its localized European sales and service presence.
  • BLM GROUP released ArGo CAM programming software for 3D laser cutting systems.
  • Prima Power unveiled Giga Laser Next, a four-head 3D laser cutting system developed for high-output automotive manufacturing.

Competitive Landscape

Competition in the global industrial laser market is shaped by processing speed, beam control, energy efficiency, automation readiness, software integration, service coverage, and total cost of ownership. High-power cutting suppliers are focusing on thick-material throughput and process stability, while welding technology providers are advancing beam delivery and reflective-metal processing.

Digital production control, connected monitoring, robotics, and workflow automation are becoming important competitive differentiators. However, cyclical factory investment and increasing price pressure in standard fibre laser cutting systems may affect order visibility and supplier margins.

Major industrial laser market participants include TRUMPF, Han’s Laser, Coherent, IPG Photonics, AMADA, and Bystronic. Other prominent companies include HGTECH, Yamazaki Mazak, Bodor Laser, HSG Laser, Prima Power, Mitsubishi Electric, Penta Laser, KEYENCE, FANUC, Salvagnini, Laserline, BLM GROUP, Trotec Laser, Raycus, LVD, Epilog Laser, Universal Laser Systems, Videojet, Domino Printing Sciences, Maxphotonics, and Golden Laser.
