LONDON, ONTARIO, July 29, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — PCCA Canada is pleased to announce that its Sterility Assurance Training (SAT) course has earned accreditation from the Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP), providing pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with a nationally recognized program focused on sterile compounding quality, compliance and patient safety.

The four-day program, hosted at the PCCA Canada Learning Center in London, Ontario, is now accredited for 15.25 continuing education units (CEUs) for both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians (CCCEP File Number: 1825-2026-4129-L-Z). When combined with required home-study coursework, participants can earn a total of 35.25 hours of continuing education.

“Achieving CCCEP accreditation is a testament to the quality and clinical integrity of our education programs,” said PCCA Canada Managing Director Amanda Cassel. “As provincial and territorial regulatory requirements for sterile compounding continue to evolve across Canada, it’s important for PCCA to offer our member pharmacies access to education that is independently reviewed and nationally recognized. This accreditation reinforces our commitment to helping pharmacy professionals build safer and more compliant sterile compounding practices.”

PCCA Canada’s SAT course curriculum focuses on fundamental compounding principles, science-based best practices and patient safety. This collaboration with CCCEP opens the door for pharmacy professionals to receive credit for training that replicates real-world sterile environments and addresses the specific challenges of the Canadian regulatory landscape.

“Sterility assurance extends far beyond aseptic technique — it is about building comprehensive quality systems that protect patients at every step of the compounding process,” said PCCA Vice President of Clinical Services Matt Martin, PharmD, BCSCP. “By securing CCCEP accreditation for this course, we’re providing pharmacists and technicians with a formal pathway to deepen their expertise. This training empowers them to evaluate facilities, monitor environmental controls, strengthen quality management systems and confidently apply current Canadian standards in their daily practice.”

SAT utilizes a mock sterile environment to teach participants about aseptic technique, facility design and monitoring, environmental sampling, cleaning and disinfection, sterilization methods, sterile formulation considerations, hazardous drug compounding, documentation, quality assurance, and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) planning.

Registration for the  next SAT on October 26-29, 2026, is open to PCCA member pharmacies. To learn more or to register for PCCA Canada Sterility Assurance Training, visit pccarx.com/education.
