A parental abduction investigation is underway after a father allegedly failed to return to Canada with his three-year-old son after a trip to India, Toronto police say.
In a news release issued Thursday, police said the accused, Kapil Sunak, 48, and his son, Valentino, travelled to Delhi in July.
The accused was ordered by the court to return to Canada with his son on Aug. 8, but failed to do so, police said.
As a result, Sunak is wanted by Toronto police for abduction by parent/custody order.
Police told CTV News in an email that Sunak and his son are believed to still be in India and that Valentino’s other parent lives in Toronto.
Sunak is described by police as six-foot-three, with short brown hair and facial hair. Valentino is four-feet tall, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Police are asking anyone with information about the pair’s whereabouts to contact them at 416-808-1200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
